Hi, I’m Lola Fayemi, Money & Lifestyle Coach and Founder of Aligned and Thriving. I focus on helping conscious entrepreneurs and spiritual business owners to unleash their wealth potential so they can stop chasing and start having the money and lifestyle they want without selling their soul.

I love working with conscious and/or spiritual people who already have a spiritual foundation to their lives and want to expand this consciousness into all areas of their lives for spiritual & material benefits.

Yes that’s right I said material benefits as well as spiritual. As far as I’m concerned, we are all spiritual beings having a physical experience, so enjoy the physical experience you came here to experience but do not lose sight of who you really are at a deeper level.

Making money in a way that feeds your soul is not just something I preach but something I live every day. But it hasn’t always been this way. In the past I was very good at making money in a way that crushed my soul, in fact I might even go as far as to say I made it into an art form!

What brought me here?

When I was growing up, passion and love were not words I linked to work. I thought the sole aim of working was to make money, so all my decisions were based on how much money there was in it for me. I made my choices intellectually and commercially, even choosing to do a degree in Psychology because I could see the therapy market was growing and if I was stronger in scientific subjects, I would have become a Plastic Surgeon, another industry I could see was on the rise!

Straight out of University I carved myself out a lucrative but unfulfilling career in corporate sales. I was living the dream, properties, designer clothes, fancy restaurants, exotic holidays etc etc. The only problem was it wasn’t my dream and it was turning into a nightmare!

I was so sure the answer to my problems lay in working harder and making more money yet I was I was racking up a ton of debt in my attempt to fill the emptiness inside of me, trying to buy my way to happiness!

It was a vicious circle, the debt was keeping me tied to the job but the debt was getting bigger because I was unhappy in the job – I was stuck in a rut and didn’t know how to get out or if it was possible to get out. God knows how long I would have kept that up if I didn’t receive the wake-up call of my Dad’s cancer diagnosis that (thankfully) completely rocked my world.

This absolutely shook me to my core and led me to see that my so-called successful life actually felt very empty, shallow and meaningless. (My Dad has since fully recovered and although traumatic at the time my immediate family has been transformed for the better in countless ways!)

I knew there had to be more to life than this but didn’t know anyone experiencing this ‘more’, just a strong feeling that ‘more’ existed whatever that was. I embarked on what I now know was a journey to reconnect back to my soul and began to learn Reiki and about the energetic component to life. Reiki opened my eyes to all that I suspected but couldn’t verbalise; I was on my way home.

I had always held autonomous and revenue generating positions at work where I was, in effect, running my own business under the brand of an established company. My clients were business owners, CEOs, Directors and other senior decision makers that I absolutely loved talking to. I would often take them out for (boozy) lunches and quiz them on their business plans and struggles. I was genuinely fascinated by all the businesses I came across, some more than others, but the business aspect intrigued me. I just knew that one day I would have my own company, I just didn’t know when or what I would be doing.

Feeling depressed and disillusioned with my career, I quit work and started running an online retail shop which at first felt fantastic. I project managed the delivery of the website, organized a fabulous launch party, did the PR, marketing, purchasing, pretty much everything except delivering the goods.

I started to read books like “Think and Grow Rich” to help me reach my lofty business goals and was blown away by how spiritual they seemed to be. Was it me? Was it because I was opening up spiritually that everything I read seemed to have a spiritual dimension to it? Pretty much all the books I was reading were showing me that my success in business was all going to be down to how much I embraced growth. It seemed personal and spiritual development were the key – who knew?

It became clear that the passion I felt was for business in general not the business I was in. Eventually I closed that business down but what I took away from it (except from even more debt!) was that I needed to find a business that I was passionate about.

Present day

I have always been passionate about growing and helping others to grow so decided to train as a coach. It wasn’t until the first day of my coach training that I realized how much I was in the right place at the right time. I had found the world that ticked all of my boxes, passion, purpose, freedom and joy.

I thought I would simply apply my corporate work ethic to my passion and thrive but it wasn’t that simple. I was hardwired to succeed if I hated what I did, to struggle, to push and shove my way to success. It seemed loving my work brought new challenges like guilt, a hell of a lot of fear but most significantly a deep rooted lack consciousness (which I suspect goes back generations!).

Changing my relationship with money has been at times scary, overwhelming, stressful and intense but I never gave up and stayed with the process. And I am so glad I did.

In just over 5 years life is 100% different and 100% better. My relationship with money has changed from a deep seated fear of money to feeling comfortable and powerful around it. I used to live in a constant state of worry fearing there was never enough, now I am debt free, have a business I love and live a lifestyle that 5 years ago I could only dream about. Healing my money issues has been the single most beneficial thing I have ever done for my business and life. It was by far my biggest hurdle and if I can overcome it, trust me, so can you!
